About

I have been a visual storyteller for more than two decades, most recently with The Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk, VA. During my tenure at The Pilot, I was recognized three times as the Virginia Photographer of the Year by the Virginia News Photographers Association. Before making a home in Tidewater, I earned a BFA in Photography from Shepherd University and a MA in Visual Communications from Ohio University. I now reside on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

My best quality as a photographer? I'm easily inspired. Growing up with four siblings and one bathroom taught me another valuable asset - patience. I will stay the moment.

My work has also won national awards from the following organizations: NPPA: Best of Photojournalism, Pictures of the Year International, Society of Features Journalism, National Black Journalists Association, Wilbur Award from the Religion Communicators Council, Society of News Design, The Atlanta Photojournalism Seminar, and the Associated Press.
